The fingers usually used to play the guitar are index finger up to the pinky finger. For advanced playing, the thumb can also be used for the 6th string. Using the chord book, a circle or zero means that the string is an open string. This means that you don’t press the string. An X means a dead string or you will not play that string. The numbers on the strings means the fret number where your fingers will be placed.
